Your holiday party planning couldn’t go any smoother unless you hired a professional chef! Sit with our Chef Darby at the December food & wine pairing as she introduces the perfect holiday hors d’oeuvres, paired perfectly with four Meadowcroft Wines (www.meadowcroftwines.com). The monthly food & wine pairing takes place on Saturday, December 11 with seatings at 12 Noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The cost is $15 per person and reservations are recommended by calling the Meadowcroft tasting room at 707/934-4090.
The menu for December includes winter radishes with remoulade paired with the Thomas Henry Verdelho; smoked salmon blini’s with dill crème fraiche served with the Thomas Henry Pinot Noir; Point Reyes Blue Cheese and pecan crisps with local figs and a balsamic reduction paired with the Thomas Henry Merlot; and Cabernet poached pears with the Meadowcroft Chocolate Cabernet Sauce served with the Meadowcroft Mt. Veeder Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
Chef Darby Tarantino is a graduate of the Ballymaloe Cookery School (www.cookingisfun.ie) in County Cork, Ireland. The school is the only one in the world set in the middle of its own 100 acre organic farm.
Meadowcroft Wines includes the Meadowcroft, Magito and Thomas Henry labels. Winemaker Tom Meadowcroft also makes the wines for the Foyt Family Wines (www.foytfamilywines.com). There are presently 14 wines being poured at the tasting room including the just released 2008 Meadowcroft Sangiovese, the 2008 Meadowcroft Zinfandel and the 2008 Thomas Henry Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting room is part of the Cornerstone Sonoma (www.cornerstonesonoma.com) complex that features 22 world class gardens, a gourmet café, art galleries and cutting edge design shops all set among acres of vineyards.
Meadowcroft Wines is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The venue is available for private parties, private tastings, wine dinners and other events.
