MEADOWCROFT WINES KICKS OFF “SONGWRITERS IN SONOMA”

Meadowcroft Wines (www.meadowcroftwines.com) will start the New Year with a monthly songwriter series titled “Songwriters In Sonoma.” The shows will take place in the Meadowcroft tasting room at Cornerstone Sonoma (23574 Arnold Drive/Hwy 121) and will be presented by Gerard Serafini, owner of Sonoma Valley Music. Serafini will both book and serve as host of the shows.
“I’ve been looking forward to launching this music series which will also provide an opportunity to include music as a large part of our offerings at the tasting room. CornerStone also offers an excellent outdoor space for summer concerts and picnics under the stars,” said owner/winemaker Tom Meadowcroft.
The inaugural show will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 21 and feature singer-songwriters Dawn Angelosante, Sean Carscadden and Jon Williams, who will perform in the round and take turns singing their original songs. Dawn Angelosante brings her warm, sultry vocals along with her accomplished keyboard playing and drawn in an attentive audience. Sean is currently in recording sessions with The Sean Carscadden Trio. His blues flair will have his listeners swaying along with his familiar deep vocal style. Jon Williams, also lead vocalist with the Sonoma-based band Ten Foot Tone, is one of the Valley’s most creative songwriters and performers. He brings a uniquely intense playing style to his creative storytelling lyrics. Admission is free with a one drink (glass of wine) minimum. Reservations are recommended by calling 707/934-4090.
“The Meadowcroft tasting room at Cornerstone offers a great atmosphere to hear live music. The tasting room itself provides an intimate space, plus the Olive Grove and the Pavilion are available for larger shows that we are planning for the warm weather months,” said Gerard Serafini. “We hope to bring a variety of musical styles to the Meadowcroft Wines site.”
Meadowcroft Wines includes the Meadowcroft, Magito and Thomas Henry labels. Winemaker Tom Meadowcroft also makes the wines for the Foyt Family Wines (www.foytfamilywines.com). There are presently 16 wines being poured at the tasting room including the just released 2008 Meadowcroft Sangiovese, the 2008 Meadowcroft Zinfandel and the 2008 Thomas Henry Zinfandel. The tasting room is part of the Cornerstone Sonoma (www.cornerstonesonoma.com) complex that features 22 world class gardens, a gourmet café, art galleries and cutting edge design shops all set among acres of vineyards.
Meadowcroft Wines is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The venue is available for private parties, private tastings, wine dinners and other events.
